Gustav spent his first years chained up in Romania, without any affection or walks. When he came to us in December 2018, the new world was initially so suspicious to him that he didn’t want to enter his warm room. But Gustav thawed out and developed into an extremely charming stubborn old man. He is the official inventor of the “protest lie-down”: If Gustav doesn’t want to do something, he simply stays put – no matter what his human has planned! He used to even climb fences to be with his beloved dog friend. After a severe, surgically treated bowel obstruction in 2025, the tough senior successfully fought his way back to life and now enjoys his well-deserved retirement with cuddles, playtime, and physical therapy.
