Dr. Usha Peters is the founder of the Stiftung De Hun’nenhoff and the heart of this special place. With great strength, unwavering determination, and a deeply felt love for animals, she has built something over many years that is far more than an animal rescue farm: a place of safety, care, and second chances.
The Hun’nenhoff stands for animals that have often faced a difficult journey – for the elderly, the sick, the overlooked, and those who would have had little hope elsewhere. The fact that they find shelter and a dignified life here is uniquely due to the dedication of Dr. Usha Peters. She has not only taken on responsibility, but lived this responsibility day in and day out.
With great perseverance, clear vision, and impressive devotion, she has shaped the foundation and given it a distinctive face. Her work represents compassion, consistency, and the firm belief that true animal welfare begins where one does not look away. Dogs have always accompanied Torsten Adam, and his close bond with animals has shaped his entire life. In his daily work as a police officer, he is repeatedly confronted with cases of animal abuse—experiences that have further deepened his commitment to animal welfare. He and his wife share their home with a Labrador.
Torsten Adam has been an integral part of the Hunnenhoff community for a good two and a half years. During this time, he has gotten to know the foundation’s work, the special demands of daily life, and, above all, the needs of the animals from up close. As the spokesperson for the dog walkers, he is involved with great reliability, a sense of responsibility, and heart.
With his calm, clear manner, his experience, and his genuine passion for dogs, Torsten Adam is a valuable asset to the board of the De Hun’nenhoff Foundation.

With her entry into the board of the De Hun’nenhoff Foundation, the foundation gains not only a woman with a clear vision, economic expertise, and a great sense of responsibility, but above all, a person for whom the well-being of animals is genuinely important. Stefanie Möhring
Stefanie Möhring is the founder of the Paws & Sea Foundation, which is dedicated to her father. For many years, she has been deeply committed, with great conviction and personal dedication, to helping people and animals in need. For her, volunteer work is not just an important value, but a true matter of the heart.
The idea to establish her own foundation arose during a beach walk with her dog, Marie. Driven by the desire not just to talk about help, but to implement charitable projects effectively and long-term, the Paws & Sea Foundation was launched in February 2019 – the fulfillment of a big dream.
Stefanie Möhring places great importance on carefully planned projects, personal presence, and close communication with project partners. For funding projects, she regularly visits sites herself to ensure that support reaches exactly where it is most urgently needed. Sustainability, reliability, and a genuine connection to the people and animals being helped particularly define her actions. With her entry into the board of Stiftung De Hun’nenhoff, the foundation gains a dedicated, experienced, and value-driven personality who supports animal welfare with heart, clarity, and long-term responsibility.

Karl-Heinz Bohner was born in Hanover and can look back on 55 years of practical professional experience in the financial sector. After training as a bank clerk and qualifying as a banking specialist, he worked in this field for many years and has been self-employed as an insurance broker since 2011. His extensive professional experience, reliability, and responsible handling of numbers and structures make him a key pillar in the board work of the De Hun’nenhoff Foundation.
Alongside his career, a great passion has stayed with him since his early youth: soccer. For over 60 years, his special love has been for Hannover 96—a long-standing connection that says a lot about his loyalty, consistency, and down-to-earth nature.
His commitment to animal welfare is just as deep. Karl-Heinz Bohner has been active in this field since 2012 and served as treasurer for an animal welfare association from 2012 to 2025. He has been a member of the board of the De Hun’nenhoff Foundation since 2016, contributing not only his professional expertise but also his great love for animals and many years of experience.
This connection is especially visible in his daily life: twice a week, he goes for walks, particularly with the dogs in wheelchairs who receive his special attention. His absolute soul dog is Spero—a bond that exemplifies his close and heartfelt relationship with the animals at Hunnenhoff.
