Many of our dogs come to us with physical limitations. Some cannot use their hind legs or have limited use, others have neurological impairments, consequences of injuries or surgeries, or age-related musculoskeletal problems.

Physical therapy and targeted rehabilitation measures are therefore an important part of our work at De Hun’nenhoff.

Personalized Movement & Rehabilitation

Our focus is always on the individual dog and their unique capabilities. Our goal is to maintain and promote existing abilities, build muscle, support mobility, and counteract incorrect or protective postures as much as possible.

Depending on their needs and physical condition, various measures can be employed. These include targeted movement and mobilization exercises, muscle building, coordination and balance training, as well as supportive measures for relaxation and promoting mobility.

Training with a dog cart can also be part of rehabilitation. Because for a dog, a cart doesn’t just mean moving forward again. Proper handling must be learned and individually adapted. Many dogs regain a great deal of independence and joy of life through this. (Image of our underwater treadmills)

Every Dog Has Their Own Pace

Rehabilitation requires time, patience, and a realistic view of what is possible for each dog. Success doesn’t always mean being able to walk completely again. Sometimes it’s a more stable stance, a little more strength, better mobility, or the ability to move independently again with support.

Every step forward counts for us.

For us, physical therapy and rehabilitation are therefore more than just individual exercises. They are part of a holistic approach designed to help our handicapped dogs make the best possible use of their abilities and experience the highest possible quality of life.
