Knut (born October 15, 2024) has a moving history: Born with a spinal deformity and later hit by a car, the animal rescuers from “Ein Herz für Streuner” gave him a second chance and brought him to us at the Hu’nenhoff in August 2025. Since then, he has enriched our lives with irresistible charm, ice-blue and brown eyes – and a good dose of spirit!
The fact that his hind legs don’t work properly doesn’t bother Knut one bit. In his wheelchair, he has simply forgotten where the brake pedal is! He zooms across the yard with unchecked joy, explores the world, and is incredibly fast-learning and people-oriented.
Anyone who adopts Knut isn’t just getting a lap dog on the side, but a real package of character! As a young dog, he is full of energy and displays typical livestock guardian dog behaviors. Knut means well, but due to his age and breed, he tends to redirect when his emotions or guarding instincts get the better of him. He therefore needs people who can show him who wears the pants in the house with loving consistency, patience, and firmness – and how to channel that energy in the right direction.
Due to his spinal damage, Knut is largely incontinent. This means that his bladder must be manually emptied several times a day. That sounds complicated at first, but it becomes a daily routine incredibly quickly! Knut is cooperative and engaged during all his treatments and makes it really easy for his humans with his cheerful nature.
Knut isn’t a dog for everyone, but for the right people, he is an absolute jackpot: a loyal, funny, and beautiful companion who will go through thick and thin with his humans.
