Yara

Yara’s story began in the Ukrainian war zone, where unimaginable stress left deep emotional and neurological wounds. When she came to us in March 2026, she carried a heavy burden of fear and auto-aggression. But her new name Yara – which stands for “courage” and “little butterfly” – says it all: with irrepressible strength, she is breaking free from her cocoon bit by bit. Because stress can trigger severe epileptic seizures for her, she needs an absolutely stress-free environment and, in acute moments, the direct, calming closeness of being held in her humans’ arms. The wonderful news is: Yara is thawing out more and more, learning the gentleness of hands, and showing us every day what true resilience means.
