Schlumpf (pictured left) came to us from an overcrowded Romanian animal shelter and was initially a deeply frightened dog. It took two years of patience and training with a dog trainer for him to break the ice and gain trust. Today, the little rascal walks perfectly on a leash, loves to cuddle, and is crazy about treats. “Schlumpfi” proved his true lion’s strength when he was diagnosed with a malignant tumor in 2022: He bravely endured surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy and has been considered cured since 2023! Even a torn cruciate ligament and arthritis don’t stop him, thanks to physiotherapy. Schlumpf shows us every day that the biggest fighters sometimes walk around on very small paws.
